Thamilselvan died on 2 November 2007 during an air strike by the Sri Lanka Air Force near the town of Kilinochchi.

S. P. Thamilselvan (full name Suppayya Paramu Thamilselvan) was a senior political leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)

Thamilselvan the Head of the LTTE’s Political Wing, effectively serving as the organization’s chief political spokesperson and negotiator.

He represented the LTTE in peace talks with the Sri Lankan government and in international discussions, particularly during the 2002 Norwegian-brokered ceasefire.
