Brigadier Thurka was a remarkable leader and a symbol of courage. As a prominent female commander in the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), she led the all-female Sothiya Regiment, showing the strength and determination of women during the war between Sri Lanka and LTTE.

She broke barriers by taking on a leadership role in combat, inspiring many with her bravery and unwavering resolve.
